Stephen John Simms
1965-2025
November 4, 1965 – March 3, 2025
It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of our
beloved Stephen John Simms (Stephen, Daddy, Hun) a devoted husband,
Dad and son. Stephen, husband of Mary (Kennedy) Simms left us
peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love,
and quiet strength in his residence in Blacks Harbour on March 3,
2025.
He was born on November 4, 1965, in London, Ontario to
Clarence Eldon Thomas Simms and Arlene Joyce (Kimberley)
Simms.
He was a man of unwavering dedication, a hardworking soul who
gave his all to his family. He was an introvert at heart, finding
solace in books, the rhythm of a good rock song or his running shoes
against the pavement and the serenity of the water as he swam. We must
not forget the funny nature he exuded whether through a spontaneous
song or puppeteering, his laughter could be heard through a crowd,
last but not least, his one true love, aside from his lovely wife and
best friend of 35-years, was the Edmonton
Oilers.
Beneath his quiet nature was a man who loved deeply and cared
immensely, always offering support in ways that spoke louder than
words.
To his family, he was our rock—always there, always
steady, always loving. He never sought the spotlight, but his presence
was felt in the warm encouragement he gave, the thoughtful
conversations he shared, and the countless ways he showed up for those
he loved. He had a brilliant mind, a deep love for learning, and a
heart that held room for all of us. A true protector for his daughters
Mandi Melissa Marie Kennedy and Angela Anne Marie Kennedy and a
guardian to his grandchildren Angela Haley Marie Kennedy, Ryley
Francis Kennedy and Liam Ryan Smith.
While we grieve his passing, we take comfort in knowing that
his love remains woven into the fabric of our lives. His lessons, his
laughter, and his unwavering support will be carried forward in the
lives he touched.
Stephen/Dad/Grandpa, we will miss you beyond words, but we
will honour you in the way we live, love, and carry forward the
kindness and strength you showed us every day.
Rest peacefully. You are forever in our
hearts.
