Obituary of Stephanie (Kevghas) Doyle, Glace Bay
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Stephanie (Kevghas) Doyle, age 73 on January 2, 2025 in Hospice, Halifax. She was a former resident of Glace Bay.
Stephanie was raised in North Chelmsford, MA by the late Costas Kevghas and Claire (Pare) Kevghas. In addition to her parents, Stephanie was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Stephen and Angela (Ladas) Kevghas and maternal grandparents, Rudy and Marie-Estelle Pare, her brother Craig Kevghas, and her former husband Michael Doyle.
She will live on in the memories of her four children Shawna (Darren) McIntyre, Fall River, NS, Christa (Demetri) Kostadopoulos, London, ON, Mickey (Dana) Doyle, Kitchener, ON, and Amy (Ryan) Doyle, Middle Sackville, NS.
Stephanie was beyond proud to be Yia-Yia to her five grandsons, Eric, Zach, Simon, Xander, and Cody, and her great grandson Casey. In addition to her children and grandchildren she is also survived by her siblings Chuck Kevghas, South Dakota, Paris Kevghas, Arizona, Scott Kevghas, Indiana, Melissa (Titus) Palmer, Massachusetts, and Stephen (Denise) Kevghas, Maryland, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Stephanie developed a love of music when her grandfather Rudy bought her a piano as a child. She turned this passion into a career and filled the hills of Cape Breton with the Sound of Music for over 40 years. Most notably she was an organist and singer praising Jesus with the talent he blessed her with at Holy Cross Parish in Glace Bay for over 35 years. She also performed in various bands in Massachusetts and Cape Breton playing country and classic rock with John Hiscock, Lloyd Steiger, and The Klassics. She also enjoyed teaching the love of music to people of all ages.
The only thing stronger than her love of music was her faith in the Lord. We are comforted knowing that she is now at peace in the Lord’s love.
♫ What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see ♫
We want to express our most sincere gratitude to Hospice Halifax who made her ready for her journey to the Lord and the support they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Halifax (www.hospicehalifax.ca).
There will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 at 11 am in Holy Cross Church followed by a reception in the lower level. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.
