Stanley “Stasiu” Szyszka
September 23, 1931 – July 12, 2025
Calgary, Alberta
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stanley Szyszka, affectionately known as Stasiu, who passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 93.
Stanley was born on September 23, 1931, in Kielce, Poland, and lived a remarkable life filled with compassion, laughter, and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A man with a heart of gold, Stanley was known for his kindness and wisdom. He never hesitated to help anyone in need and lived by the simple yet powerful belief that if you could help someone — you should.
His sense of humor was unmatched, and he had a way of making everyone around him laugh with his quick wit and hilarious stories.
Stan was incredibly social, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life was one of his greatest gifts.
Among his many passions were gliders and travelling. He had a deep love for aviation, which led him to a career as an aircraft mechanic for Air Canada Airlines. He took great pride in his work and remained endlessly curious about the mechanics of flight. Stan lived for adventure, and his love for travel took him across countries and continents — always with a twinkle in his eye and a story to bring back.
Stanley lived life to the fullest. He was kind, he was funny, and above all, he was deeply loved.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and resilience. Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the countless memories he gave us.
Rest in peace, Stasiu. You will be forever missed and always remembered.
Stanley will be lovingly remembered by his wife Hanna; stepsons Robert and Adam; stepdaughter Beata; Grandson; Tomek, granddaughter’s; Olga, Paulina and Cheyenne and Great Granddaughter Lola.
Stanley will be deeply missed by his family — including his nieces and nephews: Krzysztof (and Jola), Iwona, Robert (and Asia), and Leszek (and Ida); his great-nieces and great-nephews: Izabela, Agnieszka, Magdalena, Patryk, and Natalia; and many more who shared in his life, his stories, and his laughter over the years.
Niech spoczywa w pokoju wśród bliskich, którzy odeszli przed nim – Helena and Danuta, and others who were close to his heart.
We carry his memory with love and will always remember the warm, kind-hearted man he was. Zawsze będziesz w naszych sercach. Żegnaj, Wujku. Do zobaczenia po tamtej stronie.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY QUEEN of PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2111 Uxbridge Dr. NW on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:00 am.
Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 – 4th St. NW)

W 1963 roku wybrał niełatwy los emigranta ze swoją pierwszą żoną Janiną, najpierw w Winnipegu a później w Calgary rozpoczął nowy etap życia zawodowego i rodzinnego.
Wujek dołączył do swoich bliskich Rodziców, Brata i Sióstr.
Jest w Domu Ojca i polecamy Go Miłosierdziu Bożemu.
Dziękujemy za wszystkie wspólne chwile, za Twoją miłość i dobroć.
Nie możemy uczestniczyć w Jego ostatniej drodze, ale łączymy się w modlitwie.
Siostrzenica Iwona z córką Izabelą
