Stanley Jessome Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, Stanley Jessome, on February 22, 2025, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 24, 1934, Stanley was the son of the late Lewis and Ellen (Quinn) Jessome. A lifetime resident of Mill Creek, Stanley had a deep love for fishing and family. With his knowledge of the sea, Stanley joined his son and fished many prosperous years off Point Aconi.
A true family man, Stanley was surrounded by love throughout his life. Many of our fondest memories of “Da” include sitting in his rocking chair with a good drink, laughing to his favourite show. An avid story teller, he provided a wealth of knowledge and laughter to those around him. Left to mourn is his soul mate and loving wife of 70 years, Cora. The couple provided a warm and loving home to their four children; Bernice (Melvin) Beddow, Phonda (David) Power, Kendall (Roxanne) Jessome and Claudette (John) Vickers. Da was a source of love and support throughout our lives.
Poppy was a consistent presence in his grandchildren’s lives. Left to remember him are his seven Grandchildren; Aaron Beddow, Jeffrey (Natasha) Jessome, Kirk (Tracey) Power, Shalane (Stephen) Clarke, Alyssa (Devin) Finlayson, Matthew (Patricia) Jessome and Holly Vickers. In addition, Poppy leaves behind 11 Great Grandchildren: Taylor Beddow, Kendra, Allyson and Brielle Jessome, Lucah and Layla Power, Brooklyn Jessome, Drew and Maci Finlayson, Thea and Dominic Clarke.
Sisters left to mourn include Venita Power, Theresa Serwatick and sister-in-law Cecilia Jessome. Stanley is preceded by brothers Francis, Louie, Bill, Blair and sister Delores.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Andrew Wawer for his care throughout the years; as well as the staff of 4West of the Northside General Hospital during his recent hospitalization. Cremation has taken place under the arrangements of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will take place at Carmen United Church on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association of Canada or the Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation.
