Stanley Szewc
1933-2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanley (Stan) Szewc, on Friday February 14, in his 92nd year.
Stan will be dearly missed by his wife Ruth (nee Wagner). He thanked her every day for her care and devotion throughout these last 28 years. Stan was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Phyllis (nee Lukasik) in 1994. He was also predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Sabina Szewc, and by his grandson Michael.
Stan was the adored father of five loving and grateful daughters and their husbands, Brenda (Italo), Patricia (Michael), Susan (Barry), Sharon (Edward), and Linda (Peter). He was a proud, doting and beloved grandfather (Dzia Dzia) to 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Stan will also be sadly missed by his step-daughters, Diana and Linda (John) of Greenwich, CT. Stan’s strength, kindness, guidance, and sense of humour will forever be remembered with great fondness by all of his family. Family was everything for Stan: “I am only a father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather”.
As a founding member of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Hamilton, Stan spent many happy years involved in the parish community. After moving to Stoney Creek in the late 1980’s, Stan was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, as well an active member of Knights of Columbus at the parish. He was also part of the ‘Harmonites’ singing group, as he delighted in bringing joy to others through song. The family would like to thank Dr. Ross Allega, and Dr. Jason Cheung of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Special thanks to the staff at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their compassionate care during Stan’s final days. A heartfelt thank you to Sandy, Tiffiany, and Vinny for your compassionate care and support for Stan during his final days.
Visitation will take place on at P. X.
