GODIN, Simonne – Décédée paisiblement avec sa famille à ses côtés le mardi 28 janvier 2025 à l’âge de 86 ans.
Épouse bien-aimée d’Alfred « Feddy » depuis 68 ans. Mère aimante et attentionnée d’Alban (Maguerite), feu Réjean (Karen), feu Alcide, Raoul (Carole), Daniel (Marlene), Michel (Jacqueline). Grand-mère de Cynthia (Adam), Julian (Jessica), feu David, Nicole (Kyle), Stephen (Tiffany), Nathan (Chi), Nathalie (Garret), Julia (Dominic), Alanna (Scott), Courtney, Chantal (Tucker) et Luc (Morgan). Arrière-grand-mère de 24 enfants. Fille de feu Hertorine et de feu Hervais Gionet. Chère sœur de : Thérèse (Lorenzo), Jeannette (feu Louis), Géraldine (feu Julian), Georgette (Alban), Hectorine (feu Raymond), Janot (Yolande), Jean-Claude (Juliette) et Denise (Denis). Belle-fille de Thomas et Alexandrine Godin. Belle-sœur de Stanley (Noella), Cécile (feu Richard, Blaine), Edmond (Desneige), feu Adrien (Yolande), Hedard (Verana), Antoine (feu Lorraine, Angela), Mary-Beth (feu Jacques, Alyre), Adrianna (Roger), Adeline (feu Léodard), et Yvon (Lena). Ses nombreux neveux et nièces se souviendront d’elle.
Simonne et Alfred ont quitté le Nouveau-Brunswick en 1965 pour s’installer en permanence à White River, où ils ont élevé leurs six garçons. Simonne était un membre actif de la communauté, s’impliquant dans le centre communautaire et la Légion. En plus d’être planteuse d’arbres, cuisinière et serveuse, elle était aussi une femme d’affaires, propriétaire de Restuarant Godin. Elle était connue pour sa nature bienveillante et amicale, ainsi que pour être une Memère pour tout le monde. Elle traitait chacun comme un membre de sa famille. Si elle vous aimait, elle vous aimait pour la vie.
La crémation a eu lieu au River’s Edge Cremation Centre, à Sault Ste. Marie. Les visites auront lieu à l’église St-Basil Church, White River le samedi 31 mai 2025, à partir de 10h00 jusqu’à l’heure de la messe commemorative à 11h00.
La famille apprécierait grandement les dons commémoratifs faits à l’Algoma Lung Association ou à la Lady Dunn Health Foundation.
La famille tient à remercier chaleureusement la Dr. Anjali Oberai et le personnel infirmier du Centre de santé Lady Dunn pour les soins exceptionnels qu’ils ont prodigués à Simonne.

Beloved wife of Alfred “Feddy” for 68 years. Loving and nurturing mother of Alban (Maguerite), late Rejean (Karen), late Alcide, Raoul (Carole), Daniel (Marlene), Michel (Jacqueline). Grandmother of Cynthia (Adam), Julian (Jessica), late David, Nicole (Kyle), Stephen (Tiffany), Nathan (Chi), Nathalie (Garret), Julia (Dominic), Alanna (Scott), Courtney, Chantal (Tucker) and Luc (Morgan). Great grandmother of 24. Daughter of the late Hertorine and Hervais Gionet. Dear sister of; Therese (Lorenzo), Jeannette (late Louis), Geraldine (late Julian), Georgette (Alban), Hectorine (late Raymond), Janot (Yolande), Jean-Claude (Juliette) and Denise (Denis). Daughter-in-law of Thomas and Alexandrine Godin. Sister-in-law; Stanley (Noella), Cecile (late Richard, Blaine), Edmond (Desneige), late Adrien (Yolande), Hedard (Verana), Antoine (late Lorraine, Angela), Mary-Beth (late Jacques, Alyre), Adrianna (Roger), Adeline (late Leodard), and Yvon (Lena). Simonne will be remembered by her many neices and nephews.
Simonne and Alfred relocated from New Brunswick in 1965 to White River making it their permanent home where they raised their 6 boys. Simonne was an active member of the community being involved with the community centre and the Legion. In addition to being a tree planter, a cook and a waitress, she was also a business woman, being the proprietor of Godin’s Restaurant. She was known for her caring and friendly nature as well as being a Memere to everyone. She treated everyone like a member of her family. If she loved you, she loved you for life.
Cremation has taken place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie. A visitation will be held at St. Basil’s Church, White River on Saturday May 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations made to the Algoma Lung Association or to the Lady Dunn Health Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Anjali Oberai and the nursing staff of the Lady Dunn Health Centre for their exceptional care that was given to Simonne.
