It is with great sadness that our family announces that our beloved Silvana Rosa Borsato-Espinosa of Massey, Ontario passed away suddenly at home on August 20th.
Silvana was born in Sudbury on September 11, 1953, and is the wife of Fernando Espinosa.
She is the beloved daughter of Anna Borsato and the late Angelo Borsato.
She is sister to Elizabeth Domiano (Davide) and Mario Borsato (Stephanie). She is the devoted and loving Aunt to Sean, Lesley, Lori, Michael, Nidia, Gabby, Monica and Danny. Sister-in-Law to Nidia & Debbie. She is also survived by numerous cousins in Canada and Italy, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father Angelo, she was predeceased by her brother Umberto (Berto) and sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Sister Lupita.
Silvana was the President of the Massey Horticultural Society and Assistant Director of the 13th District.
She grew up in Capreol, where she attended St. Mary’s School and then Mary Mount College. She later moved to Ottawa, where she worked for the President of the Bank of Canada. She then moved to western Canada where she worked with Bishop O’Grady educating the under-privileged children of the area. Silvana moved back to northern Ontario where she met her soul mate and the love of her life and best friend; Fernando. They were married in Fernando’s hometown and country of Merida, Mexico. They would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on October 20th.
Silvana was of Roman Catholic faith and had a special devotion to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Silvana will always be remembered for her sense of humor and her laugh, love of gardening and roses, love of music and sweet desserts, and especially her unending compassion, especially toward the homeless.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 160 Darby St., Massey, August 28 at 11:00AM. Donations may be made in Silvana’s name to the Elgin Food Bank and/or Maison McCulloch Hospice.
