Sidney “Sid” Creek Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sidney George Creek on April 2nd, 2025 at the age of 84.
Born in Stratford on January 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Sidney and Araminta Creek. In 1960 Sid married Shirley (Kreis) and they resided in Stratford for 62 years before relocating to Mitchell. Together they had two children, Susan (Scott) Tolton and Jane (Bruce) Murray. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Tyler Tolton and Courtney (Chris) Wise and one great granddaughter, Remi Wise. Sid is survived by his sister Mary Foley as well as his sisters-in-law Leslie Creek and Shirley Kreis and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Ross and Eric Creek and his in laws, Ruby and Jerry Uniac, Marion and Ted Turford, Dorothy and Doug Allen, Earl and Lawrence Kreis, Doug Foley and his mother and father-in-law John and Elfrieda Kreis.
Sid joined the Stratford Fire Department in 1965, retiring as Fire Chief in 1996. Sid loved the Stratford community and spent his entire life volunteering on many Organizations. Through his years of service, he was President of Stratford Minor Baseball and Stratford Sports Council and in 1972 was named “Sportsman of the Year”. For many years he was the athletic trainer for the Stratford Jr. B. Hockey Club, and he enjoyed seeing so many players become successful in their hockey careers. He also served on the Board of Directors for the hockey club. Sid was awarded a life membership with the Stratford Jr B. hockey club Board of Directors as well as the Army and Navy Unit 261 and the Mitchell Golf and Country Club. He also served many years on the City of Stratford Parks Board.
His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Stratford General Hospital for their care, kindness and friendship towards Sid.
Cremation has taken place. At Sid’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. In Sid’s honour an informal Celebration of Life will be held at the Mitchell Golf and Country Club on Saturday April 26th, 2025 from 2-5 p.m. with words of remembrance at 3 p.m.
