With breaking hearts, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of (Ann) Shirley Heffernan who was in her 79th year. Shirley’s love story, with her husband Heffie (John) began over 57 years ago.
Shirley was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and Nannie. She had two daughters. Ann who is married to her favourite son in law Claude and younger daughter Karen. Shirley was called Nannie to Justine (Troy), Jasmine (Justin) and C.J (who welcomed her home with a big hug and a seat at the poker game), Noel (Samantha) and Austin. She was also Nannie to Steve, Marc and her favourite pool boy Sunny. Great Grandma to Georgie, Asher and Valencia. Shirley had many nieces and nephews that will miss her….and she adored.
Shirley never met a stranger, she talked and said hello to everyone. If you asked her how she was doing, she would reply with “if I was any better, I would be triplets”. If you sat beside her at the casino you would hear about her two sisters Mamie and Darlene who she loved bunches and bunches, as well as her brothers and sisters who she has now joined. You would hear stories about her baking chocolate chip cookies for family and friends whether it be in London or Tulip St, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
Once you met her, you became family and learned she worked at Kelloggs until she retired, that Georgie is the horse whisperer, what was on sale at the store and whatever else was on her mind. She was the glue that kept her family together and will be missed dearly by hearts she touched. Shirley was surround by her tribe till the end.
