The passing of Shirley Muretta (Leavitt)
Wilcox, wife of the late Allison L.Wilcox occurred at the Saint John
Regional Hospital on February 9, 2025. Born at Back Bay New Brunswick
on May 5, 1948 she was a daughter of the late Johnney and Florence
(McGarrigle) Leavitt.
A loving mother, grandmother, and
sister. She is survived by her children: Faith (Scotty) Watson of
Saint John NB, Timothy Wilcox (Heidi Conrod) of Utopia NB, Tony (Rose)
Wilcox of Pennfield NB, Jonathan Wilcox (Trevor) of Digdeguash, NB and
Tabatha (Jeff) Cooke of Pennfield NB, eight grandchildren:
Brittany, Kateland, Joseph, Alison, Casey, Alexander, Logan and Alyson
lynn. two great grandchildren: Ava and Christopher. her siblings:
Jerry (Carol) Leavitt and Gary (Cindy) Leavitt both of Back
Bay NB, Janet (Brad) Henderson of Seeleys Cove NB, Martha Hawkes of
Blacks Harbour NB and sister in law Miko Leavitt of Letang as well as
her beloved in laws: Doug Wilcox and Sandra (Roger) Harris both of
Utopia, Elaine Scovil of Hampton NB and Diane (Wayne) Vance of Canal
NB as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her
parents she was predeceased by her beloved Allison, her granddaughter
in infancy; Allison and her brother Aldon.
Shirley was a devoted home maker and caregiver
for her family. In her early years she was known for her cooking. She
enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as her scratch tickets,
especially Bingo, the occasional game of Radio Bingo, watching the
deer from the back yard. or sneaking the occasional sweet. Shirley
especially enjoyed her family and family get togethers. She will be
sadly missed by her family and her special friend Kernal.
Arrangements
in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage
Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the Seaview full
gospel church, Back Bay NB on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The service
will take place at the church on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul
Legere officiating. The interment will be held in the Pennfield Rural
Cemetery in the spring. In Shirley’s memory, donations to
The Diabetes Association, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke, The IWK, or
a charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
