Shirley Maxine Day Obituary
DAY, Shirley Maxine (nee Vincent). Passed peacefully away at Glenbrook Lodge, St. John’s after a brief illness, Shirley Maxine Day of Musgravetown originally from Cape Island at the age of 89.
Predeceased by her loving husband Austin and Sisters Emily (Jack) Stagg, Beryl, Bea (Herb) Howse, Winnie (Alvin) Holloway and her brother Fred (Audrey) Vincent brothers-in-law Bruce Neal, Vern Stead and Cal (Mamie) Day.
Leaving to mourn her three sons who were her pride and joy, Mac, Keith (Annie) and Jeff (Nancy), her two beautiful granddaughters whom she loved dearly Emily (Cameron) and Martha and their mother Amy Kern-Day. Also her sisters Levina Neal, Marie Stead, her brothers Eric (Marion) Vincent, Pearce (Sylvia) Vincent. Also numerous relatives and friends. Special friends Jean (Derek) Chafe who provided home care above and beyond for Shirley while she lived at Maplewood Apartments before moving to long term care. Also special friends Irene Mahaney, Karen Butt and Pat Edney who were her constant companions for years and her special niece Jan Windsor. Your friendship and dedication to Shirley was greatly appreciated by her family. A special thank you to the staff of Glenbrook Lodge for their care and compassion, particularly to the staff of 1A for your dedication and kindness.
Over the years Shirley entertained many family and friends with special meals, stories and laughs. Her home was a haven for the many friends of her boys and a home away from home for her extended family. She had a great spirituality that carried her through the up and downs of life. She will be truly missed.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral home. No visitation by request, a memorial service will be held at Barrett’s chapel on Monday, March 10th, 2025 at 4:00pm. A reception will follow the service at Barrett’s Reception Center. A donation can be made to the charity of your choice.
