Passed peacefully away at JPMH after a lengthy illness alongside her loving family on Wednesday, May 7th, Shirley Marie Collins, at the age of 70.
She is predeceased by her parents Annie and Clarence McDonald; brother Bernard McDonald; sisters Annie Leyte, Maryann White, and Anita Collins.
Leaving to mourn is her loving husband Murdock Collins; daughter Delores Parsons (Warrick Parsons); son Bernard Collins (Maria); and daughter Mildred Collins ( Scott); grandchildren Alicia, LaCie, Zachary (McKenna), Christopher (Jennifer), Miranda and Miley; sisters Blanche (Reggie), Geraldine and Margaret (Cyril); along with a wide circle of family and friends.
Shirley was born on February 20 1955 on Burnt Island to Annie and Clarence McDonald. They later moved to Dover where she met the love of her life Murdock Collins. On August 15th 1975 they married and were blessed with 3 children whom blessed her with 6 grandchildren. Shirley was well known to everyone and her sense of humour was one to be admired. She loved sewing and on many of occasions did sewing for many other people – no one was turned away. She loved her flowers and would often sing and talk to them because she said it helped them bloom.
Shirley was a woman of good faith and attended her church in her younger years faithfully until she was too ill to do so but, she never once loss her faith in God.
Expressing how she felt came naturally to her and she didn’t mind voicing her opinion when needed or not needed lol. She didn’t mind going without so others could have plenty especially her grandchildren whom she adored.
Her pain has now ended, her memory we will hold in our hearts, we will hold them there forever until our new life with her starts.
We’d like to thank her daughter-in-law Maria who helped care for her and went above and beyond in her last days. Your support didn’t go unnoticed.
