With saddened hearts, the family of Shirley Ilene (Neville) Phillips announce her passing, surrounded by her family at Sakura House in Woodstock on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife and best friend for 35 years to Ron. Proud and loving mother of Cheryl Ward (Ed), Leslie Martin (Greg), Steve Townsend (Betty) and mother -in-law of Gary Matschke. Dear step-mother of Tracey Davies (Rob), John Townsend and Linda Herbert. Cherished grandmother of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her brother Jerry Neville (Pattie Epple), sister-in-law Dorothy Neville and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Clifford and Garnet (Williams) Neville, her first husband Eugene Townsend, daughter Susan Matschke, step-son Larry Phillips, brothers Joe, Harvey (Lorraine), Ross (Mona) Neville and sisters Dorothy Helmer and Marjorie Bassballa.
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service for Shirley will be held in Ostrander’s Chapel on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Straffordville Cemetery. Memorial donations to VON – Sakura House may be made directly online or by cheque with Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
