Shirley Melanson Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, the family of Shirley Frances Melanson, beloved wife of the late Ronald Melanson, announce her passing on January 30, 2025, at Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton NB. Born in Saint John on July 9, 1948, to Doris (nee. Lingley) Daley and the late Douglas Daley.
Shirley spent her life raising her two children and eventually caring for her grandchildren during the week. Mom loved talking on the phone. She would call her mom, Cindy, and Tammy everyday to get caught up. She also loved to bake and cook. She made a meal every night which always included a sweet treat afterwards. The door was always open to everybody with the tea pot always on and a little snack in the center of the table. You would never go away hungry. While spending time with her family, mom always loved to sit and watch the cows and other farm animals in the field.
Shirley is survived by her mother Doris Daley; daughters Cindy (Gordon) Pettie and Tammy (Jake) Lanigan; grandchildren: Courtnay (Keith) Mackin, Brittnay (Tommy) Ellsworth, Curtis Pettie (Emma); grand son-in-law Shane Crouse; great grandchildren: Taylor Crouse, Aubrey Mackin, and Jamie Ellsworth; siblings Doug (Gloria) Daley, Ken (Deb) Daley, and Donnie (Colleen) Daley, Marilyn (Bob) MacDonald, Barb (Alan) Willett, and Nancy (Will) Carr; several nieces and nephews; and her fur baby Sammie.
Along with her husband and father, Shirley is predeceased by her loving granddaughter Miranda Melanson-Crouse.
The family would like to thank Kait for the wonderful care she gave Mom at home. Mom really looked forward to Kait coming and watching Bigfoot and other programs.
