It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherry, a beloved daughter, sister, athlete, dedicated public servant, and loving partner, who left us on February 11, 2025 at the age of 60. Born and raised in Brooksby, Saskatchewan, to a proud farming family, Sherry carried with her the values of hard work, resilience, and deep community connections throughout her life. She spent most of her adult years living in beautiful British Columbia, where she built a life filled with love, adventure, and service.
A gifted athlete, Sherry achieved excellence in various sports, eventually earning recognition as an elite athlete. Her passion for sports carried her through her career, which led her to serve as a proud member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), most recently as an Air Marshal. Her commitment to safety and public service was unwavering, and she made an impact in every role she held.
Sherry was immensely proud of her Ukrainian heritage, and she embraced every opportunity to celebrate her roots, especially during Ukrainian Christmas, a time she cherished deeply with her family. Her love of music, particularly Celine Dion’s powerful voice, and her enthusiasm for all types of sports, especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders, brought joy to those around her. A lover of musical theatre, she found comfort and joy in the arts, always sharing her passions with those she loved.
Above all, Sherry was a devoted partner and family member. She leaves behind her life partner, Laurie, with whom she shared 17 years of love, companionship, and cherished memories. She also leaves her parents, Natalie and Walter, who were her unwavering support and source of deep affection. Sherry was deeply connected to her three sisters, Patricia, Arlene and Nancy, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and friendship. Her family meant the world to her, and she brought joy and warmth to every gathering.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Sherry found peace and joy in nature, whether hiking, walking, or simply enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by the beauty of the world. She had a gift for finding the perfect way to show her love, often surprising those she cared about with thoughtful gifts that reflected her generous spirit.
Sherry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love. Her warm heart, infectious laugh, and commitment to her family, career, and passions will forever be remembered. She is survived by her life partner Laurie, her parents Natalie and Walter, her three sisters, Patricia, Arlene (Joe), Nancy (Sherman), nieces and nephews; Jonathan, Brandon, Sarah, Nichole (Travis), Michael (Alexandra), Jordon (Jonathan), and Amanda. As well as great nieces and a great nephew, numerous other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by her.
May her memory be a blessing, and may she rest in peace.
