Sheila Long Obituary
Sheila Irene Long passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in the presence of her loving family. Sheila lived a life full of family and travel. She loved living and was an energetic companion to her husband of 67 years and she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply.
Sheila was born in Kenora, Ontario on June 22, 1931. Predeceased by her husband John Edward Long and daughter Helene Clare Long. Sheila is survived by her daughters Catherine Long and Judith Long; her sons Robert Long, Daniel Long and Mark Long; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sheila was an explorer and loved to travel. She was known for her smile and sparkle in her eye, she had a great sense of humour, imagination and was considered mischievous at times. Sheila was the heart and soul of our family and will be dearly missed.
The Long family would like to express their deep gratitude for the kindness and comfort provided to Sheila during her stay at Peaks to Pine Senior Lodge. A special thank you to the nurses (HCAs and LPNs) who worked in Aspen Winds for your understanding, tenderness and patience. We would also like to acknowledge Machelle Budzen, Sheila’s companion. Machelle was a caring and compassionate friend to Sheila and the Long family.
Thank you to Dr. Rogers and staff for your care and support of Sheila. The Home Care team supported Sheila with compassion and love from the moment she moved to the Crowsnest Pass. Thank you to Fr. Joseph Nagothu from the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish. Your Sunday visits with Sheila were of great comfort and greatly appreciated. Finally, to the paramedics who provided support to Sheila during her last night. You were sensitive, understanding and supportive during a very difficult time. The Long family appreciates the support Sheila received in her last few years in Crowsnest Pass.
