Shawn Michael Soucy – 48, Valley, Colchester
County. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Shawn
Michael Soucy, on Monday, April 14, 2025, at home with his adored
spouse by his side.
Along with his spouse of 23 years, Nadine Elaine Young, he is
also survived by his mother, Debra Susan MacGillivray; father, Gary
Lawrence Soucy (Cherie); father-in-law, Gregory D. Young; sisters,
Sylvie Duguay, Michelle Soucy, Elaine Soucy (Nathan); step-sister,
Christine Dafoe (Philip); sisters-in-law, Laurie Fletcher-Young,
Marina England; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Hughie and Agnes
MacGillivray; paternal grandparents, Conrad and Hermaine Soucy;
mother-in-law, Murdena “Polly” Young; brothers-in-law,
Gregory K. Young, Matthew Young.
Shawn brought joy and happiness to all he met with continuous
positivity and laughter. He was dearly loved and appreciated by all
his many friends. Always the clown, “Shawnee” loved to joke
and lift people up. A golfer, fisherman and live music enthusiast, he
lived his short life to the fullest.
His passion was his work within the dental world; this gave
him much pride building a successful career. Truly more than
co-workers and clients, Shawn built a world of lifelong friends along
the way.
Shawn will be dearly missed and more importantly remembered
forever by all of the lives he touched.
A huge thank you to Colchester East Hants VON nurses,
Colchester East Hants Health Centre Medical Day Unit nurses, and many
other doctors and specialists who so diligently strove to provide the
best quality of life for Shawn. Many, many thanks to all of our family
and friends who have been by our sides, supporting Shawn through his
journey.
Nadine would like to invite everyone to join her for the
Funeral Mass which will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025, at
Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro,
Father Jim O’Connor officiating. Celebration of Life will follow the
service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, 42 Brunswick Street,
Truro. A private graveside service will be held at a later
date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VON
(Colchester East Hants), Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your
choice.
