It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shaun Leo Francis
announces his passing into the Spirit World on May 6, 2025, at the age
of 47. Born on February 5, 1978, Shaun was a proud member of
Kingsclear First Nation, the beloved son of the late Rebecca Francis
of Kingsclear and Vincent Francis Sr. of Elsipogtog.
Shaun was predeceased by his parents, his cherished
grandmother Mary (Molly) Devoe, his beloved son Turrell Francis,
Sister Paula, his godfather David Young, and many aunts and uncles who
have gone before him.
Left to mourn his loss are his children, Tyra Francis and
Abel Mahoney, his brothers Vincent Jr. (Donna), Bruce, Ryan, and
Brett, and his sisters Martha, Betina and Chrissy (Chelsey). He will
be lovingly remembered by his nieces: Charlee (Shawn), Aneesa,
Cipriana, Natawne (Mitch), and Tatiana; his nephew Drake;
great-nephews Cassius and Lennox, and great-nieces Amaria and Zayda.
He is also survived by his Grandfather Clarence Atwin (Timer);
godmother Martha Francis, his Uncle Max; remaining aunts Rosemary,
Laura, Ernestine, Beatrice and Cecilia; and a large circle of cousins
and lifelong friends.
Shaun was a man of honour and pride, unwaveringly loyal to
those he loved. He had a heart of gold and a grin that could light up
even the darkest room. Known for his quick wit and legendary humour,
he could have you doubled over laughing in minutes—and when
it came to storytelling, let’s just say Shaun could sell a
car to a car salesman.
A true rock enthusiast, Shaun was often found with pockets or
a bookbag full of stones, each one with meaning, each one given as a
heartfelt gift to someone special. He was a man who valued appearance,
never caught without a fresh fade, no matter where life led him.
Charismatic and confident, he proudly called himself a ladies’
man—”you either got it or you don’t,”
he’d say, “and I got it.”
Shaun loved the outdoors. He was an avid skier, a runner, a
biker and someone you could always spot walking around—just
enjoying the rhythm of the world around him. He found joy in the gym,
staying active, and keeping himself in shape. But more than anything,
Shaun was generous. He would give the shirt off his back without
hesitation. He found meaning in helping others, in talking through
tough times, and in sharing a “bad” tune with whoever needed
it.
His place of rest will be at 606 Apartment Lane, beginning at
4:00 PM on Thursday, May 8th and continuing Friday, May 9th. A funeral
mass will take place on Saturday May 10th at
11am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Brennan
officiating; the interment will follow in the adjoining
cemetery.
In honour of Shaun’s generous spirit, donations can
be made to the John Howard Society. The family would like to say a
special thank you to the Victoria health center, Dr. Logan and her
team as well as the Bilijk Health Center Mental Health team Andrea,
Amanda and Kare. We truly appreciated the work they did for
Shaun.
He was deeply loved and will be profoundly
missed—but never forgotten.
