Sharon Anne Rideout (Sullivan)
June 4, 1948 – February 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Sharon Rideout (Sullivan), of Sydney N.S. on February 4, 2025, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, St. Anns Bay Unit, with family by her side.
Born in Sydney, N.S. to the late William and Clara Sullivan, she had five brothers and four sisters.
Sharon was a loving mother who leaves behind her children, Cora Lee Rideout (Glenn Stark) and Troy Rideout; and grandson, Tyler Stark (Joslyn Schultz). She will be deeply missed and remembered by her brothers and sisters, Billy Sullivan, Marlene McCallum (Terry), Everett Sullivan (Maureen), Patrick Sullivan, Janet Corbett (Tony) and Lorraine Colbourne. Sharon is also survived by her sister-in-law, Muriel Sullivan and brother-in-law, Eric Peters.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Mickey Sullivan and Gordie Sullivan; sister, Darlene Peters; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Colbourne. Sharon will also be missed and loved forever by her many nieces and nephews, and her large and extended family and many special friends from far and wide.
Sharon cherished spending time with her family at gatherings, dinners, card games, and sitting around laughing and joking. When she was in her younger years, she enjoyed spending her time in Ingonish playing with her cousins and working with her aunts. She would travel to the Yukon where she enjoyed spending her summers with her only grandson, playing and exploring what the Yukon had to offer. Sharon loved going camping and hanging out at the cabin with family and friends. She also loved to be around the family’s pets and would spoil them all with treats.
From the time she was young, Sharon spent her time helping her mom raise her younger siblings after the passing of their father. Her compassionate, caring nature and hard work ethic continued throughout her whole life. Sharon was loved unconditionally, and this is something that all who knew her will continue to cherish most about her. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was always there for everyone who needed her helping hand, big heart and soft shoulder.
Sharon will always be loved by all and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 8th from 12:30 – 2:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Evo DiPierro officiating, refreshments to follow.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all the amazing staff at St. Anns Bay for their caring, compassion, and professionalism shown towards our mom and family during her stay. We would also like to thank the staff at Seaview Manor for their care during her time there.
