Sharelle’s Obituary
Sharelle Suzanne (nee Foster) McGill (age 81) passed away peacefully in the arms of her lord on Sunday March 2, 2025.
Sharelle worked many years at the Lawrencetown Lands & Forests Nursery and the Co-op store. She also spent countless hours announcing light horse events at the Lawrencetown Exhibition, a role she enjoyed due to her deep love of animals especially horses, which she imparted on more than one grandchild. Her presence at the front gate was a familiar sight for over 30 years, where she delighted in catching up with friends and staying abreast of local news. Sharelle’s love for being ‘in the know’ extended to her Sunday brunches with her sons and family, where she would eagerly share the week’s events.
Sharelle’s life was centered around her family, community, and church. She found joy in camping and snowmobiling with her husband Blair, sons Randy and Joe, and her in-laws, creating cherished memories during these adventures. Sharelle also found time to announce and keep score for her sons’ hockey games at the Lawrencetown Rink where they fondly recall that visits to the penalty box also entailed a visit with her. Never one to let the grass grow underfoot, Sharelle enjoyed bowling and darts, played hockey with the Lawrencetown Ladybugs, softball with the Forestry Fliers, was active with TOPS, CAPS and the Clarence 4H Club, and knitted hundreds of hats and mittens through the Zellers Knitting Program.
Sharelle served her community of Inglisville for many years as part of the Inglisville Baptist Church, Ladies Group and Community Hall, where she also co-authored a book about the history of Inglisville with her daughter-in-law Lesley. Sharelle also loved competing in the Exhibition and would spend months searching for recipes to enter in the Baking and Preserves category; her family fondly remember “her” prize-winning canned peaches, she always took home a rainbow of ribbons and prize money. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she often hosted entire extended family annual suppers where she could show off her cooking prowess. She also loved a good lemon pie with a hand of crib and played in many tournaments with her son Joe and granddaughter Jessica.
In recent years, after her husband Blair passed away and her health declined, she relied on her family more. However, she also liked to dictate the terms of the help, often with an occasional “no sir, no sir!” for good measure when she opposed someone overstepping said help.
Sharelle was predeceased by her husband Blair; her parents, Helen (nee Rhodenizer) and David “Clyde” Foster; and brother David Foster. Sharelle will be deeply missed and left to mourn by sons, Randy (Lesley) McGill, Inglisville; and Joe (Wanda) McGill, Inglisville; sisters, Sandy (John) Healy; and Margaret (David) Deveau; nieces, Janice Healy and Suzanne Ruggles; and nephew, Richard Deveau; grandchildren, Colin (Caitlyn) McGill, Miranda (Andrew) McGill, Jessica (Jody) Veinot, Tonya (James) McGill, and William McGill; great-grandchildren, Mea, Ben, Aubrey, Blair, Koady, Cortana and Blaze. In keeping with Sharelle’s wishes, cremation has taken place where she will be forever reunited with her husband, Blair.
A celebration of Sharelle’s life will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, March 30, 2025, in the Middleton Legion, where friends and family are invited to share in an afternoon of stories and memories. Donations in memory of Sharelle may be made to the Inglisville Community Hall.
