It is with profound sadness that the family of Selby Moss, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, announce his peaceful passing on March 13, 2025 at James Paton Memorial Hospital. He was 93.
A devoted family man, Selby is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia and their three children, Glenn Moss (Catherine), Anne Caines (Sam) and Allison
Kinden (Larry) Nine grandchildren, Andrew Moss (Renee), Stephanie Barrett
(Travis), Jennifer Hennessey (Darren), Charles Caines (Valerie), Holly Moores
(Gary), Danette Fox (Jamie), Marc Kinden (Katrina), Matthew Kinden (Haley),
Richard Kinden (Marika) and 18 great grandchildren, Ruby Moss, Jack Moss,
Anna Barrett, Darcy Barrett, Joshua Hennessey, Benjamin Hennessey, Ewan
Caines, Jonah Snook, Jaiden Snook, Jaxon Fox, Ryder Fox, Ella Kinden, Luc
Kinden, Caleb Kinden, Camden Kinden, Jasper Kinden, Rachel Kinden and Claire Kinden.
Selby is predeceased by his parents Charles and Caroline Moss, siblings: Dorothy Turner, Lloyd Moss, Madeline Spurrell and Winnie Randell.
Selby was very devoted to all of his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and had a wonderful relationship with them all.
He had a wonderful sense of humour. He enjoyed to sing and played a variety of instruments. He loved the outdoors and sharing his love of fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Selby started his work life as a teacher followed by over 30 years as a social worker, finishing his career as the District Administrator of Social Services in Lewisporte. Selby was a well-known volunteer. He initiated the Food Bank and Good Will Centre in Lewisporte, an active Eucharistic Minister / Lay-Reader, member of the School Board, Calypso Foundation, Recreation / Stadium Committee. He advocated for the misfortunate and was dedicated to kindness.
Family will be accepting friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Sunday, March 16th from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Monday, March 17th at 2:00 P.M. from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.

To Claude Stockley for visiting Selby almost every week, he enjoyed every minute of your visits.

Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at the Emergency Department and Palliative Care at James Paton Memorial Hospital. Your care for Selby was exceptional.
Last but not least, thank you to “Our” Nurse Jennifer Hennessey who came and stayed with her Grandad for his last night and never left his side. You were our “Godsend” gift from heaven.
