Passed away peacefully in his beloved Malta on April 24, 2025 at the age of 95. He is now lovingly reunited with the love of his life, Maria (2024) with whom he shared 66 incredible years grounded in Faith, Love, Family, and good Food.
Cherished Dad to Joseph, Mary-Anne (Paul) Azzopardi, and Cathy (John) Azzopardi.
Loving Nannu to Jacob (Silvana), Stephanie (Jacob), Natalie, Daniel, Jordan (Larissa), Christopher, Marie (David), Katherine (Jesse), and the late Carmelo.
Great Nannu to Iliana, Eli, Matteo, Lucas, Naomi and Lauren.
Beloved brother to Miriam (Tony) and Vincent (the late Margaret). Predeceased by his siblings Joseph (Doris), and Lina (Joseph).
Sam will be so lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and close family friends.
Sam was a man of deep faith rooted in his Maltese heritage. Sam held a strong devotion to his patron St. Dominic, and for his faith he prayed the rosary and continued to watch the daily masses streamed from home. His love for his home country of Malta was a constant in his life.
Sam and Maria were devoted to their family, they often joked about their own “Food Delivery Service” for the family, delivering fun meals to their children and grandchildren – Sam always ensuring the containers were returned to be used again! He found joy in cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs with unwavering hope for another Stanley Cup win but found his greatest happiness in time spent with family. His warm farewell of “come again” will echo lovingly in their hearts. Sam was our beloved and strong, yet silent Patriarch and now he too has gained his wings. May he rest in eternal peace with Maria.
