Sarah Eleanor Pack, age 97, passed peacefully away February 26,2025 at Pleasant View Towers, St.John’s, NL.
Sarah was the eldest daughter of Fredrick ( Freddie) and Stella ( Whitten) Chafe of Petty Harbour, NL.
Predeceased by her husband Howard Pack (2016), Son in-law Peter Quinlan, Brothers: Eric Chafe ( Mary) and Max Chafe.
Sisters: Marion Chafe (Donnie) and Hazel Squires (Frank), Brothers and sisters in-law Ron Pack(Ethel), Eric Pack(Ethel), Olga Hounsell (Eric) and Dorthy Noel, Leaving to morn daughter Glenda Pack and cherished grand daughters Norah and Kathleen Quinlan, Marion and Hazels’ children: Terry, David, Douglas, Gloria, Eric, Steven, Rennie, Valerie and Jennifer and their families and special cousin Robert Whitten. In-laws Pearl Janes (Bill) and Fred Noel. As well as many other nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and her devoted Pleasant View Tower family on 2SW and 1SE.
Sarah was a life long learner and educator. She was the go to resource for a level headed opinion on any current affair as well as local and world wide historical events.
As a teacher, Miss Chafe taught in St. Lawrence and Petty Harbour and then as Mrs. Pack on Springdale Street School in St. John’s. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, aunt, and friend. Her kind gentle soul, whose love for people, music and nature led her to appreciated all that life delivered.
The family would like to thank Dr. Callahan-Dyer and Dr. Fakhruddin Essaji for their exceptional care over the years as well as the staff of 1SE and 2SW Pleasant View Towers and the kind caregivers at TLC Home Care Services.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Thursday March 6th from 2pm – 4 pm and 7pm – 9pm.
Funeral service will take place at St. George’s Anglican Church on Friday March 7, 2025 at 2 pm.
Interment will take place at a later date.
For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and the link can be found on the main page of the Barrett’s website.
In Sarah’s memory do a kind deed, say a kind word, feed the birds or walk over that insect on the sidewalk. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of one’s choice.
