CHANOCK, Sarah – Selma passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Baycrest. She emigrated to Canada from South Africa with her devoted husband Herby (z”ll). She enjoyed spending time with her children both in Toronto and Johannesburg. Selma was a loving mother to Glynis (z”ll) and Jack, Andi and Stan, and Rene and Chonie. She was a devoted grandmother to Shawn (Jessica), Craig (Rebecca), Adam (Eve), Larry (Lauren), Wayne (Randi), Lisa (Doron), and Jonathan (Batsheva). Selma was a proud great grandmother to Dylan, Ethan, Ava, Kylie, Jordyn, Harlow, Hannah, Jake, Madison, Avery, Quinn, Jaclyn, Amber, Gadi, Daniella, and Ben. She looked forward to her regular trips to Johannesburg where she spent time with her daughter Rene and family and enjoyed the company of her precious sister Freda (z”ll). Selma was loved by her numerous friends and enjoyed socializing and playing cards with them. Our heartfelt thanks goes to Joy Regua, her devoted caregiver. Joy showed Selma kindness and respect and treated her like a family member. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Baycrest, Dr Hirani, Rosalie, Eda, Wendy, and Mir.
