Sandy Simpkin Obituary
Sanford (Sandy) David Simpkin
October 15, 1952 – January 19, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandy Simpkin on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at the age of 72.
Sandy is lovingly remembered by his daughter Alexandra (Jory), his sister Debbie (Bernie), his brother Terry (Patty) and his close friend Barry. He was predeceased by his father Kenneth Simpkin (1992) and mother Johanna Simpkin (2022).
Sandy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 15th, 1952. He grew up in Elmwood, moving later to St. Vital and finally to River Road in St. Andrews, Manitoba. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his years including boating, camping, customizing vehicles, and music. A lover of the outdoors, you could find him on his boat or in his camper in the summer or snowmobiling in the winter. Sandy was independent, and someone who marched to the beat of his own drum, both figuratively and literally, as he was also a fantastic drummer! Sandy loved playing his drums and played in bands with his friends over the years.
Sandy knew how to throw a great party, and it wasn’t uncommon to find him standing around the bonfire, a beer in his hand, telling a funny story to the group. Sandy had a great sense of humor and could capture a crowd’s interest easily.
Sandy tried his hand at various jobs over the years, eventually going on to own and operate his own business, Custom Coachworks. There he commercially outfitted vehicles, centred around his love of van customization, and he was proud of the business he had created. His work ethic and passion for what he did was evident.
While Sandy left this earth much too soon, he will be remembered and missed by his family. We love you, Sandy.
Following Sandy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Interlake Eastern Health Foundation.
