Sandra was born in Tidworth, England in 1952, the middle child of seven (brothers Colin and Gary, sisters Betty, Corky, Susan and Debra). In July of 1969, she was married and awaiting the birth of their first child In December of the same year. They had made homes in various places through out England and within a few years welcomed two more children. As a young family they decided to leave England to pursue a life abroad. Arriving in Toronto, January of 1976 with only a few hundred dollars, couple suitcases, three young children and hopes, they started making a life for themselves. After a year of living in Toronto they decided that it would be better for a small young family to live in a quieter, smaller place rather than the big city. So they packed up there suitcases, three children and headed west to Grande Cache, Alberta. While living in Grande Cache a lot of her time was spent raising her young family and working as a butcher at the local grocery store. In 1980 they welcomed their fourth child. Soon after the family moved to Raymond in Southern Alberta, where she spent the rest of her life. Sandra was hard working and dedicated. She spent many years at the old Raymond Care Center as a Certified Nursing Aid until her retirement. She was very thankful to her friends at work and she thoroughly enjoyed her time there. Sandra’s hobbies included sewing, knitting, baking and puzzles. She loved to travel, her favorites were going back for visits to England to see family and going on cruises. The holidays meant a lot to her, a chance to be able to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always looked forward to her traditional English cooking. Family has always been an integral part of her life. In her final moments she was surrounded by her loving family to whom each was special to her. As per her request no funeral service will be held, a private celebration of life will be held in her honor.
