Maynard, Ruth Barbara (nee Cowell)
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ruth Barbara Maynard (nee Cowell) who peacefully passed away with her family by her side at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 94.
She was the daughter of the late George Cowell & the late Hagar Buller (the late Joseph Johnston).
Ruth will be lovingly reunited with her late husband, Frank Maynard (2002).
Dear mother of Bruce Maynard (Deb), the late Linda Suzor, Janet Maynard (Tod) & Margaret Reaume (Dave). Survived by son-in-law, Rick Suzor.
Granny of Denise Maynard, Crystal Maynard (James), Randy Ogle (Amy), Lacey Ogle (Sean), Glen Ogle, Terri Dawn Petley & David Petley. Step-grandmother of Anne Mason (Chris) & Christina Reaume (Pat).
Great-grandmother of many.
Predeceased by her sisters & brothers and survived by many nieces & nephews.
Ruth will forever be cherished by her family. A well known spitfire, her strength, determination and outspoken personality will forever be missed by her family. She was a granny to many of the neighborhood kids, opening her door to anyone who may have needed it. Ruth was there for anyone, her families rock and hero. She had a sense of humor that was unmatched and an attitude that everyone loved. Knowing how to get her way, with the raise of an eyebrow, her family knew there was no saying no to Ruth. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, their forever hero and they were her greatest treasure. Ruth was best friends with her children, always up for a dance with Bruce and an adventure with Margaret. She made Home wherever she was and her family know, wherever she is now, her and Frank are having the time of their lives together.
Family to receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Funeral Home, 141 Park Alley, Blenheim from 11:00 am until a Celebration of Ruth’s Life at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
In memory of Ruth, donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or to Diabetes Canada.
