With great sadness we announce the passing of Ruth Dianne Roush, on January 2, 2025, after a brief illness at the Welland Wolcott Complex Care unit in her 74th year.
She was born on March 14, 1951 in Cayuga, Ontario to the late Ivan and Madeline Hoover Jones.
Ruth enjoyed fishing, her most favourite pastime and singing with her voice of an angel. She will be remembered for her specialty, baking, many wonderful cakes, pies, cheesecake and especially her Christmas cookies.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Curt Roush, who she married on Sept.24, 1994. She is also survived by daughters Lisa Griffin (Dan Biddiscombe), Jennifer (Dave) Breem, and son Rob (Julia) Rush. She is also survived by 2 step-daughters, Stacy Cooper and Sonya Rettig. Four grandsons, Mike and Ryan Griffin, Braedan and Matthew Rush, 5 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren survive along with many nieces and nephews, as well as brother-in-law John Van Kuren and sister-in-law Phyllis Jones.
Besides her parents, brothers Raymond and John, sister’s Doris Wilson, Joyce Cowell, and Margaret VanKuren predecease her.
Arrangments have been entrusted to Merritt Funeral Home, Smithville and a private graveside service will be held for the family at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Donations in her name to a local community food bank would be appreciated.
