Ruth Madeline Farris
1936-2025
Ruth Madeline Farris passed away on February 22, 2025, at the
Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, NB. She was born on May 5, 1936, the
first daughter of Claude and Constance (Holliday) Stuart of Deer
Island, NB.
Ruth resided on Deer Island until she moved to Oak Bay to
live with her daughter, Paula McLay and later became a resident of
Passamaquoddy Lodge on April 4, 2020.
She was a lifelong member of the Lamberts Cove Baptist Church
and was a member of the Women’s Institute in Leonardville
and the seniors’ groups on the island.
A talented knitter and crocheter, she enjoyed making things
for her family and friends. Two favourite other past times were
“visiting” and bingo.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
sister, she is survived by her granddaughter Delaney McLay (Zach
Stewart); three great-grandchildren, Riah, Amara and Zane all of Oak
Bay.
Other survivors include two sisters, Joyce (Michael)
Silvaggio of Deer Island, NB and Patricia (James) Eckols of Texas; and
several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband of
44 years, Paul M. Farris; daughter Paula Ruth McLay; sister and
brother-in-law Nancy and Lou Ulrich; and one son Peter D.
Stuart.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no
visitation. A graveside service and interment will be held at the
Fairhaven Community Cemetery at a later date.
In Ruth’s memory, donations would be appreciated by
the family to Lamberts Cove Baptist Church, Passamaquoddy Lodge or to
a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude
to the staff of Passamaquoddy Lodge for the exceptional care and
compassion given to Ruth during her stay.
