It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Jensen on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the age of 90.
A vibrant soul, Ruth lived a full life, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, humour, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of many, from family and friends to the countless others who were drawn to her generous heart.
Born in Denmark in 1934, she married her childhood sweetheart, Bent Jensen (deceased 2012), after which they started a family and moved to Canada. She was a devoted wife and mother, moving across the country with her husband and 3 children, Jimmy, Ronnie (deceased 1966), and Janet. She led a full life that was more than remarkable, but often tragic. She was a survivor, able to find the positive in any situation. She became a mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. They were roles she fulfilled beautifully, and she was immensely proud of her family.
Ruth nurtured not only her own children but also became a second mother to many. Her boundless capacity to love extended far beyond her family, with many considering her a mother figure in their own lives. Her home was always open, her heart always welcoming, and her insight and compassion freely given to all who needed it. She could masterfully elevate the spirits of anyone who was suffering, or in need of encouragement. She had a way of making everyone feel like they mattered, a gift that will be dearly missed by all who were embraced by her love.
A radiant beacon of positivity and joy, Ruth was always ready with a smile, a kind word, and a listening ear. Her sense of adventure, zest for life, and deep care for others made her a cherished figure in her community. Known for her wit, wisdom and gentle guidance, Ruth embraced every stage of life with grace and dignity.
Although words can never fully capture the essence of such an extraordinary person, Ruth will forever be remembered for the love and affection she gave, the humour that made her eyes sparkle, and the impact she had on the lives of many friends she called ‘family’. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held in honour of Ruth Jensen at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Dr., Kars on Saturday, March 29th from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
