It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Ruth Jean Rushton, age 76, of
Oxford, NS, on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Gables Lodge, Amherst,
NS.
Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter
of the late Murray and Hazel (Gray) MacDonald.
Ruth was employed until her retirement
with Canada Post in Oxford. Ruth could be found throughout
the community volunteering with many groups and
organizations. She received Oxford’s Volunteer of
the Year in 1994. Ruth was an active member of the Pythian Sisters
Cedar Temple # 21, where she held many titles with her last being Past
Grand Chief.
She is survived by her children Cynthia
(Ken), Michael (Andrea), Angela (Bradley), Mary-Jo (Kelly) and Andrew.
Her grandchildren Amanda, Melanie, Krisanne, Kendra, Robby, Colton,
Madalyn, Matthew, Jordan, and Jacob and her 6 great-grandchildren;
siblings Diane(Don), Elizabeth ( Late Ron), Linda(Late Al), David(
Janice), Peter(Judy), brother-in-law Les(Nancy) as well as several
nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her loving husband Llewelyn E. Rushton.
We, the family would like to extend our
deepest gratitude to the staff at Gables Lodge- Burke Ave- East Wing
for the care and support that was given to Mom during her
stay.

of W. Allen Funeral Home, Oxford, NS
(902) 447-2167. In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, cremation has
taken place a family graveside service will be held at a later date in
Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford.
