Russell James “Jim” Sharp passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Riverview Gardens Nursing Home – Chatham after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Loving father of Wayne Sharp and his wife, Teresa. Cherished grandfather of Michael (Miranda Lumley) Sharp Luevano and Andrew Sharp Luevano. Dear brother of Joseph Sharp. Survived by his former wife Susan Williams and many extended family members. Predeceased by his parents, Russell Sharp and Rose (Milton “Mick”) Bailey, and his sisters, Bette and Nancy.
Jim was an incredible athlete, excelling in baseball, hockey, football, and every sport he participated in. On September 11, 1969, his life was forever changed due to a brain aneurysm. Despite the challenges he faced, he built a 35-plus-year career with Goodwill Industries, where his main roles were to “drive people crazy” and make them laugh.
He loved playing cards with family and friends, where his intelligence shone through in his game-winning strategies. Jim will be remembered as helpful and outgoing person, never too shy to ask a “serious question” . Above all, his greatest joy in life was being a father and grandfather, never missing an opportunity to share stories about his family (and maybe brag about his boys just a little).
Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Blackwell Cemetery.
