It is with deep sorrow but filled with loving memories that we announce the passing of Ruby Wawatie. Ruby passed away at the Maniwaki Hospital, on February 11th, 2025, at the age of 56. She was the daughter of the Late Maurice Wawatie and Pauline Ratt.
While Ruby is on her path to the spirit world, she will be missed by her spouse, Mike Whiteduck. She was a caring mother to: Steph (Joey), Trevor (Jade), Maurice, Nicole (Trent), Mickey (Maria), Jeremy (Kelly), Jonathan (Tyanne), and Justin (Priscilla).
She will be missed by her numerous grandchildren, along with her 11 siblings.
For those who knew her, she lived a wonderful life and loved nothing better than being with her many friends, family, and community members who will miss her deeply. She taught at the Rapid Lake Kitiganik School for over 25 years. Her love of teaching and helping each other was contagious.
Ruby will be waked at the Kitigan Zibi funeral home as of Friday February 14th, 2025, 5pm until Sunday February 16th, 2025, 2pm. The wake will be going on through a 24hours schedule. After the wake will be the cremation and the interment will occur at a later date.
