It is in recognition of a life well lived and loved that the family of Ross Chambers announces his peaceful passing on May 15, 2025 at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care. Ross was the loved son of the late Harry and Lottie (nee Black) Chambers. Beloved husband of the late (Freda) Yvonne Chambers (nee Cook). Cherished father of Evelyn, and the late Aileen and Evan. As an only child, Ross embraced Yvonne’s sibling and considered them his brothers and sisters as well. Ross is survived by Cook family members Betty Bruce, Ronnie Cook, Lorraine Padget, and Kalvin Cook (Marie). He is predeceased by Francis and Jim Bruce, Eldon Bruce, George Cook, Robert and Hilda Cook, Blanche and Bill McPhail, Joan Cook, Ken Pagett, Karen and Lyle Segriff and Linda and Peter Lemon. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ross believed in service: to his faith, to the land he farmed, the organizations he engaged with including local agriculture and produce associations, Peniel United Church, Kawartha Lakes Haliburton 4-H, Lindsay Agricultural Society, Community Care, and Kawartha Lakes Food Source. He was the recipient of the 4-H Ontario Arbor Award, 35 year 4-H volunteer, 65 year Mason Lodge Brethen, and 10 year Community Care Volunteer.
A visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home on Friday May 23, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Service to celebrate Ross’ life will take place on Saturday May 24, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Interment Sunderland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario 4-H Council, Woodville United Church, Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care Unit, Sunderland Cemetery, or Kawartha Lakes Food Source would be appreciated, and can be made on line, or by cheque through the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, especially the Palliative Care “Angels in Scrubs” of the Ross Memorial Hospital, for their care, compassion, and for making Ross’ final journey comfortable and dignified.
