Rosalie Best Obituary
With much sadness we announce the sudden passing of Rosalie Best on January 28, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Isle Aux Morts, Newfoundland to the late Clayton and Ida (Harvey) Lillington, Rosalie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Rosalie worked for many years at the National Sea fish plant in North Sydney before becoming a domestic cleaner. She was a tremendous baker and had a knack for all things crafty, especially crocheting and quilting blankets. She was a great friend, one that solidified friendships that lasted a lifetime, and would often put the needs of the people for whom she cared above her own.
Rosalie will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years, George; her daughters: Gina (Bernie) Bailey, and Kimberly Hussey; grandchildren: Sean Hussey Jr., Meghan Bailey and Trevor Bailey; siblings: Ruth Organ, Susanna Wells, Russell Lillington and Herman Lillington, along with many nieces and nephews. She will be further missed by many close friends, especially – Rosalind Guy, Catherine Seymour, Kim Strickland, Mary LaFosse, Angie Keeping, and Leeanne MacLeod Archer.
In addition to her parents, Rosalie was predeceased by her brother, Clayton Jr. and Richard, along with her son-in-law, Sean Hussey.
The family would like to extend a special mention of gratitude to the entire staff of the An Cala palliative care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Donations in Rosalie’s memory are encouraged to be made to the Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
A visitation for Rosalie will be held from 1 to 2:30 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025, with a funeral service immediately following at 2:30 pm at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home at 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney with Rev. Debbie Fice officiating. Burial will take place in the Spring. Online Condolences can be left for the family by writing on the tribute wall of the obituary page.
