It is with profound sadness that we announce that our beloved mother and grandmother, Rosa Pilla, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 at the age of 92.
Rosa has been reunited with her loving husband Domenico, with whom she shared her deep affection for 71 years. She was deeply cherished mother to Antonio, Maddalena (Richard), and Mary (John). A proud and doting nonna to Alexandra and Jessica, Rosa was also a treasured sister to Angela, Vincenzo, Antonio, Domenico, Pasquale, Giuseppe, and Giovanni.
Having followed her husband to Venezuela from her home town of Gallo Matese, Italy, Rosa, with Domenico, eventually decided to raise their family in Toronto, Canada. She was a kind and generous woman who created a warm and caring home for her children and husband. As well as loving to spend time with family and friends, Rosa took great pleasure in cooking and baking, vegetable gardening, sausage making, and passata and jarred-tomato making. When she could find the time, she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Rosa is survived by her children, granddaughters, and brother Giovanni, all of whom are eternally grateful to her for the perfect example of love, compassion, and faithfulness that she was to them and to everyone who knew her. She will be missed beyond measure.
Visitations for Rosa have been entrusted to the DeMarco Funeral Home – Keele Chapel (3725 Keele Street, Toronto, Ontario M3J 1N4 | t: 416-636-7027) and will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jane Frances Roman Catholic Church (2747 Jane Street, Toronto, Ontario M3L 2E8 | t: 416-741-1463). Immediately following the Mass, Rosa’s entombment will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario L3T 2C7 | t: 905-889-7467).
