Ronald “Ron” Deptuck Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Ronald Michael Deptuck on February 1, 2025, due to heart complications.
Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind his loving wife, Cindy (Farr); daughter, Kristie (Justin); son, Kody (Kaleigh); and his beloved “little bug” and apple of his eye, granddaughter Isla. He will also be greatly missed by his cherished grand-dogs, Oakley, and Groot.
Ron is survived by his siblings: brother Dennis, sister Kathy (Dave), and brother Andy. He will also be lovingly remembered by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and friends. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Margaret, and John Deptuck.
Ron was a lifelong Courtenay resident, known for his mild temperament, quick wit, and great sense of humor. A dedicated and hardworking man, he loved to putter around outside. Always helping his kids with their properties, falling trees, pulling stumps, and picking rocks, turning raw land into something beautiful just as he did in his earlier years at his parents’ acreage. From stacking wood perfectly, to running all kinds of equipment, he never shied away from a challenge, and no one could match his patience and precision.
Ron worked in the paving industry for just over 50 years, the majority of that time with Tayco Paving. He was the man on the roller, with a lunch box that never disappointed. He took great pride in his work, and although he was happy to retire, he always missed the camaraderie and laughter he shared with his longtime buddies at Tayco.
Always the first to help anyone with anything, yet never asking for anything in return, he enjoyed his twice-daily trips to the Re-Store, collecting all kinds of stuff – just in case anyone else ever needed something.
Our family has lost a legend, taken far too soon, and our lives will never be the same. A celebration of his life will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Re-Store.
Love you forever and always.
