Ronald Frank Gavel

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Frank Gavel on December 21,2024 at the young age of 67 years.
Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on April 27, 1957, his family moved to Fort McMurray during his teenage years. This is where he met the love of his life Celine St Jean. They both knew right away that their love would last forever. So, on Sept 3, 1977 they said their “I DO”s. A few years passed they made the big move to Blackfalds, Alberta where they started their lives together and raised a beautiful family.
Ron’s life was full of love and many great family memories. He started his career as a firefighter for a few years but that wasn’t his forever job. He always knew carpentry and building was his passion, because no matter what the build was, he would jump in, get it done and he loved doing it. You could always find him in the shop building his latest project with whatever kind of materials he could find. He found great joy in reusing materials or scavenging; nothing ever went to waste.
Those who knew Ron, knew he loved to have fun and crack jokes just to make someone smile. He was the most generous man, always willing to give to those in need even if it meant he went without.
He was especially proud of his family, talking about them wherever he went. What he loved most was quality time around the fire out camping, music on, cold drink in hand with his family by his side. No matter where he was music followed him, singing and dancing was a huge part of him and his love language to those around him.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Celine Gavel along with their 2 daughters Jennifer (Jeff) Mountain, Jessica Gavel and 3 grandchildren. Kaya, Slade Mountain and Deakon Gavel.
He was predeceased by his father Frank Gavel and brother Mark Gavel. Survived by his mother Flora Gavel, brother Doug Gavel and sister Tracy Bussard.
Ronnie was a one-of-a-kind guy. He made a real impact on many people lives. If you were one of the lucky ones, you’re blessed to have known him. He will be missed forever and loved more than he will ever know. Rest easy Dad, love you.
Celebration of life will be held Saturday February 1, 2025 at 1pm at the Blackfalds Community Hall located at 4810 Womacks Road Blackfalds, Alberta.
