Roma passed away peacefully on Saturday, 24 May 2025 at Woodstock Hospital at the age of 87, after a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Roma was born on 24 October 1937 to the late Jack (1910 – 1988) and Treva (1913 – 2003) Hotchkiss.
Roma was a devoted wife of 69 years to Cyril Demeyere. Cyril and Roma fell in love in high school and were married in 1956. Their love endured over sixty-nine years.
Roma was predeceased by her sister Doreen Locker (1945 – 1976) and brother Paul (1933 – 1981) and Ross (1940 – 2019). Roma is survived by Cyril Demeyere.
Roma was a loving mother to Michele, David (Jane), and Kara. Devoted Grandmother “Dee Dee” to Alexa (Stephen), Deanna, Dylan (Jordan), Nicholas (Katy), Alexander (Adrienne) and Great Grandson Evan and Great Granddaughter Josie.
Roma loved traveling to many foreign countries worldwide. She also loved downhill skiing, especially Vail Colorado. Cyril and Roma enjoyed over 25 years of cottage life at their cottage, Arcadia, on the Lake of Bays, Muskoka. With her family and friends, Roma lived a full and enriched life.
Roma was cremated and her ashes will be buried in the Tillsonburg Cemetery in a private ceremony.
Visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm, and 6pm to 8pm on Monday, June 2 at Ostrander’s Funeral Home with a special “Remembrance” service at 10am on Tuesday, June 3.
