Roger Harris Obituary
William Roger Harris, age 90, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on March 20, 2025. Born in Toronto, son of the late Vivian Cecil Harris and Ada Irene Dearborn.
Roger attended Lorne Park College where he met Patricia and married August 24, 1956. In 1968 they came to Stratford where Roger worked at Supersweet Feeds and later opened Colour Your World and Perth Gallery. He was a member of Ontario Street Baptist Church, President of Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, Member of the Schneider’s Male Choir and was a boy scout leader for many years. Roger loved genealogy, gardening, volunteering at the Fryfogel Inn and spent many summers at Camp Hermosa with family volunteering with maintenance and clean up.
Predeceased by his wife Patricia (Barton-Everingham) May 31, 2016. Loving father of Debbie Eckmier (Paul – deceased), Cathy Schenk (Russ), Heather Vossen (Dave), Sharon Harris, Lois Walter (Peter). He will be missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also survived by sister Doreen Fleming, sister-in-law Carlotta Barton and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by grandson Andrew Schenk, sisters Margaret Hopper, Audrey Semenyk, brothers Walter, Glanville and Everett Harris and by brother-in-law Ronald Barton.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Thursday, April 3, from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday, April 4, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Memorial donations in Roger’s memory may be made to Camp Hermosa (camphermosa.org). www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
