Obituary of ROBERT ADAM SCHLEDWITZ
Rob passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital early on Saturday February 8th, 2025 after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer over the past 4+ years. Rob passed away while holding his wife Gail’s hand, who stayed with him the entire time he was in the hospital.
Rob is survived by his wife Gail of 63 years, their sons, Dale, Ron (Janet), Darryl (Vicki) and Randy (Lisa), his grandchildren Jordan, Alyssa, Kiara, PJ (Ashley), Stephen, Kodie, Jeffrey, and great grandchildren Mia, Leighton and Hunter, Aubrey and Paisley. His siblings Don (Shirley), Brian (Jane) and Ruth (Gil) with many nephews, nieces and many cousins in Manitoba, Ontario and parts of the United States.
He was predeceased by both of his parents Adam and Tillie Schledewitz, his in laws Minnie and Tom lball, along with his grandparents and other family members.
Rob was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the Concordia Hospital, he was the second child of Adam and Tillie Schledewitz. Rob and his parents along with his siblings grew up in Elmwood, where he met most of his lifelong friends. Rob made deliveries for The Talbot Drug store back in 1957 and he also met the love of his life Gail Virginia Elizabeth lball, who also was working there. This is where their love story began. During his life Rob worked very hard to build a life for Gail and their growing family of 4 boys. His first job was at Winnipeg Wholesales, he then went on to work at Maple Leaf Flower Mill where he worked with his father Adam. When the Mill was shutting down, he then went to Northern Messenger for a short time and then it was during this time that Rob and Gail discussed creating their own company Kustom Kartage Ltd. Rob was an Owner/Operator for 40+ years and enjoyed being his own boss. When he was done being his own boss in 1999, he became the dispatcher at Griffin Logistics which then turned into Ram Messenger, which then slowly turned into him retiring. Rob retired back in 2006 from Ram Messenger where he could begin to stay home more and annoy Mother.
As per Rob’s wishes, cremation has already taken place with interment to follow at a later time. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Holy Cross E.V. Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in his honor.
