It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Staples in his 60th year, who passed suddenly at Peterborough Regional Health Center on February 1, 2025. Robert is survived by his loving daughter Emma. Robert was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Cecile (Bartley). Beloved brother to Bill (Laura) Staples and Linda (Dave) Gould. Uncle to Tanya (Jason) McConnell, Tricia Staples, and Amanda (Greg) Johnson, and Great Uncle of 5 nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life Robert was always known for his sarcastic sense of humour and his love of country life. Robert had strong family ties, never missing a family event, always bringing something sweet for the kids. He worked a variety of jobs driving large equipment and trucks. Robert enjoyed attending farm auctions and bringing home treasures.
Robert’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the memories he created with them. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North on Monday, February 10 from 11:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm. With reception to follow. Interment will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Lifford. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada. Donations may be made by cheque through the funeral home or online.
