Robert Gordon Bown passed peacefully away at Bonnew’s Lodge on January 31, 2025.
He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Elsie Bown; siblings Evelyn, Jack, Sarah, Harold, Bernice, Marmaduke; son-in-law Ralph; daughter-in-law Marryanne.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 70 years Sadie; children Gloria, Terry (Debbie), Judy, Louise (Mark), Linda, Charles, Dwayne (Tanya), Craig (Jana), Dean (Loreaaj), Heather; sisters-in-law Maisie, Myra, Joyce; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and great friends Bram and Linda.
Growing up in rural Newfoundland, Bob faced and overcame many obstacles, from losing his father as a small boy to surviving spinal meningitis which prevented any further education. In spite of these many challenges, Bob continued on to grow, marry, create a family and build a successful business. Bob had a great love for all animals and all things nature, especially fishing. But his greatest love and joy in life were his children. He took every opportunity to learn, grow, and love with them, whether this was a conversation, a fishing trip, a walk in the woods or a simple movie night. Bob’s love and dedication to his family was unmeasurable. Bob was happiest when spending time with family and friends. He was loved beyond words and will be forever missed.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Bram and Linda Lewis for their amazing friendship over the years, and the wonderful, kind and loving staff of Oram’s Baywatch Manor.
