It is with astounding and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Wayne Spencer, our rock, surrounded by family on April 6th, 2025. He was 68 years of age. Cherished husband and soulmate of Wendy Spencer. Deeply loved father (‘pops’) to Heather (Tom) and Brad. Beloved ‘grandpa Ceasar’ to Lucas and Hayden. Bob was predeceased by his parents Fred and Nettie Spencer. Brother to the late Ted, Marion (the late Bill), the late Ray (Cathy), Dave, Ken Spencer (Carol), and Carol (Ken Taylor). Bob will be missed by Sylvia (gammy). He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Bob and Wendy were the other half of each other’s hearts, they shared a very deep, one-of-a-kind love. His absence will be felt deeply. Bob adored spending time with Wendy and his family. He had an incredible sense of humour and made Wendy laugh every day. If you could describe Bob in one word, it would be that he was selfless – he never wanted anything for himself. He cared deeply about the needs of others, especially the needs of his wife, kids, and grandkids. He was incredibly kind, and this kindness was demonstrated frequently with his care towards others. Bob loved to tinker around the house and was happy to tackle any job or new project, he loved to garden, and he took his title as ‘grill master’ very seriously! Everyone loved him, and he left a lasting impression on everyone he crossed paths with. Bob loved his lotto tickets and always made sure there was an endless supply of chocolate bars around the house.
Words from Bob’s daughter Heather:
On behalf of our whole family, we would like to thank everyone that has reached out to give their love and support during this horrible time. We have lost our rock, but he wouldn’t want us to give up. We have an amazing family that will help each one of us navigate the changes that our lives have taken. Pops was in so much pain and fought so hard and for so long. We had the last few days together and thanks to Hayden’s teacher, Ms. Megan, Pops was able to see Hayden receive his grade 8 diploma. Pops was surrounded by love not only during his last days, but his whole life and he is impacted and loved by so many people. We will always talk about you, love you, and watch for you to say hello. Until we meet again – rest easy pops.
Love always,
Schnapps
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care Team at the BGH for their exceptional care and compassion during this incredibly difficult time. Special thanks to friends Bob and Lynor Gilks for their unwavering support as the Spencer family navigates their tremendous loss.
Friends will be welcomed at the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home, 1105 Rest Acres Road, Paris, ON, on Sunday April 12, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. In Bob’s memory, donations to the Brant County SPCA or Brantford Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
