Robert (Bob) Walter Simms -Passed away at Health Sciences Centre March 11, 2025.
Predeceased by his parents: Walter and Pauline (nee courage) Simms, sister Shirley (Robert) Woods and brother-in-law Frank Tiller.
Survived and leaving to mourn with loving memories; sister Rosalind Tiller, partner Betty Samson and her children: Kimberly Samson (Brad) and Cory Samson (Tara); His Daughters: Krista Simms (David), Donna Slaney (Cory), Kerry Simms (Rob), Lisa Simms (Mark), Laura Simms (Corey) and their mother Ann Simms.
Grandchildren: Connor and Logan, Wyatt, Emily, Ryder and Peyton, Nicholas, Raianne Ethan and Emma; Liam, Mya and Hudson; Beaudyn, Caleigh and Lucas.
He will also be missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses in Emergency and Medical Intensive Care unit.
Robert (Bob) started his career with Newfoundland Telephone Company in his Early 20’s as a Telephone Linesman. With his hard work ethic and extreme organization skills he excelled in his field and retired as a Corporate Telecommunications Senior Technician after 30+ years with Bell Aliant. He then continued in the work force with NLESD until full retirement.
Bob was known by family and friends for his love of cars both racing them in his youth as well as watching NASCAR. He had a passion for hockey as well, playing goal tender in his younger years and following local and professional hockey games passionately. He was a self-taught carpenter, craftsman and made many beautiful memories helping his daughters renovate their homes. Bob was a perfectionist and was a mentor to those around him fortunate enough to benefit from his talents, experience and drive for perfection. He will always be remembered and forever in our hearts.
Flowers graciously accepted or donations can be made to your local SPCA in Bob’s memory. Both he and all his family are dog and pet lovers. He is now with his beloved Teddy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave, Mount Pearl on Sunday, 16 March 2025 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Funeral service will be held at Barretts Funeral Chapel, Mount Pearl on Monday, 17 March 2025 at 1:00pm.
