Froelich, Robert “Bob”

The family is saddened to announce the passing of Bob on January 1, 2025 at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre. Bob was born April 3rd 1935 in Waterloo Ontario to parents Edna Margurite Schultz and William Conrad Froelich.
Bob was a proud veteran; he was in the Navy Military Reserves from 1953 to 1963. He was on a Navy ship that escorted the Royal Yacht Britannia on Queen Elizabeth’s tour of Canada in 1959 and while in the Navy, Bob was also a goalie for the hockey team.
Bob had a wide array of interests throughout his life. He had a deep appreciation for a diverse range of music. Favorites being Louis Armstrong, Buddy Holly, Led Zepplin, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson. His friends at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre called him” The Highwayman”. Bob was an enthusiastic sports fan, with passions that spanned NHL, NFL, drag racing, car racing, and even dragon boat racing. He and his Dragon Boat team members landed a Gold Medal in the 2008 Club Crew World Championships in Penang Malaysia.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Margaret Matthews (2021). Proud Father and Father-in-law of Debby Ayres and Joe Welzel, Peggy and Dan Bazin, Denise Vermilyea, Peggy Matthews and Alan Gibson, David Matthews and Kim Proctor and Bill and Linda Froelich. Grandfather of Stephanie Ayres and Cal Doherty, Kris and Aylissa Ayres, Charmaine and Al James, Bryanna and Brian Potts, Nicole Bazin and Colin Kosik, Kevin Bazin, Mike Bazin, Juliette Froelich, and James Froelich. Great-grandfather of Emmitt James, Damien Potts, Madison Andrews, Makenzie Ayres, Connor Ayres and the late Maiya Doherty.
Bob has been cremated and will be reunited with his wife Margaret on their property in Belleville in the Summer.
