JULY 20, 1934 – FEBRUARY 27, 2025
Rita Elisabeth Kuhlmorgen-Hille (nee Koenig)
Rita passed as she lived her life, on her own terms, surrounded by her family.
If you ever encountered Rita, she was someone you would not easily forget. Strong, intelligent, sharp-tongued, and beautiful. She was a force of nature, and the much celebrated matriarch of our family.
She was a hard working, business savvy, singing-dancing phenom. During her life she operated three successful businesses, Trent River Taxidermy (in partnership with her ex husband), P and R Trucking, and Kuhlmorgen Café, as well as working for the Trinidad and Tobago Tourist Board organizing deep sea fishing tours and the Canadian Red Cross as a homemaker. She loved the sunshine, her flowers, being well-dressed, a strong coffee and cooking a flavourful meal. She loved us all so much, but in her own way. Her absence will be felt deeply.
Missing her lovingly, and dearly, are her daughters, Siegrun Behrens (Don Skillen) & Susanne Kuhlmorgen-Hille (Robert Commanda). Her grandchildren, the late Michael Behrens, Jessica Kuhlmorgen-Hille (Scott Wilson), Martin Behrens (Sherry Toutant-Behrens) & Jasmine Kuhlmorgen-Hille (Simon Brynaert). Her great-grandchildren, Daniel Behrens (Jessica), Dylan Behrens (Dakota), Henry Brynaert, Aliyah Behrens, Cecilia Brynaert, Athan Behrens, Oskar Brynaert & Idris Brynaert. Her great-great-grandchild, Bryson Behrens. As well as her loving nieces and nephews in Germany.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matheson, Dr. Neville, as well as the nurses and staff at PRHC Palliative Care for taking care of Rita. As well, a very special thank you to Jane and Callie for their extra care during this life transition for all of us.
The family would also like to thank her caregiver Janet Nicholls, her euchre friends at Activity Haven and Maple Ridge Seniors Centre and her past and present neighbours for being part of her life, bringing her so much joy and companionship. She loved every one of you dearly. We also would like to thank the kind drivers of Peterborough Transit for scooting her around town in her ‘corvette.’
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the charity of your choice in her memory and honour.
