It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear wife, Mother, Nonni, and Bis Nonna, Rita De Iulio (n. Ferraro), in her 88th year on Sunday, February 9th, 2025. Rita will be deeply missed by John De Iulio, her loving and devoted husband of 64 years. Family was Rita’s greatest joy, as demonstrated by her never-ending love for John and her children Christina (Jim) Kerr, Peter (Debbie) De Iulio, and Claudia (Gerry) Bugiardini. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Emily (Sam), Anna, and Caroline Kerr, Jordan and Melina De Iulio, and Jenna, Simon, Elijah, and Joseph Bugiardini. Additional blessings came in the last 5 years with great-grandsons Harry and Oliver Roesch, whose exuberance and smiling faces brought her endless joy. Rita will be reunited in Heaven with her parents Angelo and Maria Ferraro (nee Cortiula) and sisters Lucy and Rose. She will be deeply missed by sisters Bernice (Frank) Marzola and Marie (Ray) Thibault and sisters-in-law Josephine Giannotti and Eleonora (Joe) Lancia, along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
We wish to thank the staff at Caroline Place, the Paramedics and staff in the Emergency Department of St. Joseph’s Hospital for the diligent care they provided.
Rita was a long time, devoted member of Our Lady of All Souls Roman Catholic Church of Hamilton, where she served in many capacities over her lifetime. In lieu of flowers, donations to All Soul’s Church or the Good Shepherd would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Home (43 Barton St. E) on Friday, February 14th from 3-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at All Soul’s Church (21 Barton St. W.) on Saturday, February 15th at 10am with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Burlington.
