Takacs, Richard Joseph “Rick” – Passed away after a long battle with Parkinsons, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the age of 74.
Beloved husband of Martha Takacs, whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Loving father of Katie (Mike) Hewitt and Laura Rew. Cherished Papa of Scarlett Rew and Iris Rew. Survived by his brother Ron (Linda) Takacs, and his nephew Adam, and niece April. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ava Marie Takacs. Sadly missed by many extended family and friends.
Rick was a true “Jack of all trades,” with a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. He spent his career as a millwright, marine mechanic, and small engine mechanic, working with dedication and skill. Whether it was a boat, a broken appliance, or a complex mechanical issue, Rick was always the person you could count on to get the job done right. His hands-on approach and resourcefulness were a gift to all who had the privilege of working with him.
Outside of his professional life, Rick loved building and collecting model cars and airplanes, finding joy in the intricate details of each project. His enthusiasm for remote-controlled cars and drones brought him hours of happiness, and he was always eager to share these interests with friends and family. A lover of documentaries, Rick was deeply curious about the world around him, always seeking to learn something new.
Rick was a devoted family man who cherished his loved ones. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and generous heart made him beloved by all who knew him. Rick will be remembered not only for his remarkable skills and wide-ranging talents but also for his genuine kindness, infectious laughter, and the love he so freely gave.
His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he taught, and the many things he fixed along the way.
Guests will be received at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington St. N, Woodstock, on Saturday, March 1, 2025 between 10 – 10:45 am. A memorial service to celebration Rick’s life, will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
