MONTPELLIER, René
The family announces with great sorrow his passing, Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the age of 89 years.
He was born on November 3, 1935, growing up on a farm in Rayside Balfour also known as Morgan Twp. After working at Inco for 7 years, he decided to follow in his dad’s footprints by starting his own farm where he successfully managed this business among others in true entrepreneurship passion. Again much like his father, he also played a role in local politics spending 9 years as a city councilor for Rayside Balfour. The family was also responsible for a rural mail route with Canada Post for over 50 years.
Beloved husband of Aline (née Poulin) Montpellier for 66 years. Son of the late Wilfrid and of the late Anita (née Rheaume) Montpellier. Loving father of Cleo (Julie) of Greensboro North Carolina, predeceased Denis (Louise) of Chelmsford, Armand (Hal) of Ottawa, Willy (Elaine) of Montreal. Dear brother of Lionel and Dolores. Predeceased by his brothers Lucien, Sylvio, Jean Paul and sisters Laurence, Lucille. Cherished grandfather of Renée, Elliot, Christine, Owen, Morgan, Wade and Evan along with great grandchildren Félix, Cloé, Maytham, Shibli, Audrey, Donelle, Norris, Leo and Emmett.
Special thanks to the amazing staff at HSN for all their care and dedication.
Per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
